Hills of Eternity Memorial Park has designated sections for several Bay Area synagogues: Congregation Beth Am, Congregation Etz Chayim, Congregation Beth Jacob, Congregation Kol Emeth, Congregation Or Shalom, Congregation Sha’ar Zahav, and Peninsula Sinai Congregation.

1880 – The public opinion manifested against new properties to bury their dead. The newspapers often showed headlines like ” Cemeteries Must Go!”
1890 – California passed State Penal Code 297 prohibiting burials anywhere except in an established cemetery
1901 – San Francisco’s ordinance banned new burials within city limits.
1902 – Financial toll on the cemeteries maintenance and security. Looting graves and mausoleums turned burial grounds into gruesome ruin.
1906 – The Jewish Cemeteries Hills of Eternity and Home of Peace were the first cemeteries to move the Lawndale’s farmland (in 1941 the city of Lawndale was officially renamed Colma).
1914 – Eviction noticed was sent to all cemeteries within San Francisco city limits to remove bodies, monuments, and facilities
1924- Lawndale was recognized as a city with the purpose of preserving and protecting the deads with a total of 14 cemeteries.
Maintenance planting are available to bed sizes 12 by 24 inch and 12 by 36 inch flower beds. You can also plant and maintain your own flower bed with plants from our greenhouse.
